The University of Western Australia's World Championship-winning Motorsport team will launch their 2008 race car tomorrow night.  The launch marks the eighth vehicle that the team at UWA have built.

In December last year UWA Motorsport won the Australasian Formula SAE Championships in the 2007 car, which entitled them to compete in the World Cup in Michigan in May, where they edged out more than 100 other teams from around the world to win the event.

The Formula SAE competition offers students all over the world the chance to conceive, design, fabricate and race an open-wheel car.  UWA's team is run and managed by students, with two academic supervisors.  Cars are built in a year by a team of up to 60 students.

UWA Motorsport plays a significant role in developing internationally acclaimed engineering graduates and encouraging students to further their studies after high school.
