A number of enhancements to the Library’s search tool, OneSearch , will be implemented next week along with changes to Course Materials Online and High Demand Collection borrowing.

OneSearch

OneSearch provides access to all print and online library materials and scholarly information. The improvements aim to streamline the user experience and include:

  • Essential unit readings and examination papers will be available within OneSearch and searchable by unit code/unit coordinator.
  • Access to library account information (including loans, due dates, fines and more) will be available within OneSearch via My Library Account.
  • RSS and alert options available in OneSearch via e-Shelf.
  • A Virtual Browse function to browse the library’s print collections online.

The Library Catalogue and the New Books RSS feeds will be superseded by these new features and no longer be available from 1 st December 2014.

Course Materials Online

The current Course Materials Online (CMO) system will remain available until the end of all 2014 examination periods to ensure no disruption to students.  After this time CMO will be accessible only via OneSearch.

High Demand Collections

To improve equity of access to the library high demand collections a number of borrowing changes are also being made from  1 st December.

  • High demand items will be available to borrow for UWA staff and students only.
  • The loan period for high demand items will remain at 3 hours with an option to extend by another 3 hours.
  • Overnight high demand loans will remain but will no longer be renewable.
  • Bookings for high demand items will no longer be available.
