Past and present members of the UWA Young Engineers committee gathered on 27 September 2007 to celebrate a decade of achievement and success. Special guests included Professor Doug McEachern, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of UWA and Mr Jim Brown, the President of Engineers Australia Executive WA Division. Over the past decade the UWA Young Engineers have grown from a group of eight forward thinking students into a force of 41 members in 2007. They exist to bridge the gap between students and employers and improve the skills with which students graduate.

Situations allowing students to network with potential employers are created through annual events such as the Vacation Work Expo and the Networking Sundowner which have become a considerable success. Additionally, various seminars are held to inform students about completing university successfully, finding their dream job and global engineering challenges faced by major projects. UWA Young Engineers also play an important role in promoting an awareness of engineering to university students during Engineering Week events and to high school students during the Campus Challenge.

The Alumni Function celebrated these achievements all which would not have been possible without the continual dedication and efforts of committee members, as well as individuals and companies who have assisted the UWA Young Engineers over the past ten years. The positive momentum they have gathered is in full force and they look forward to future successes driven by enthusiastic members.
