Addressing the engineering skill shortage and creating opportunities to train our future engineers to take them to a new level of professional job readiness has lead to a strategic industry partnership between UWA and Lycopodium.
Lycopodium General Manager of Operations, Mr Peter De Leo and the Vice-Chancellor Professor Alan Robson signed a sponsorship agreement on 14 December 2007 to secure the Lycopodium Design Studio within the Monadelphous Integrated Learning Centre (ILC).

Professor Mark Bush, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics welcomes Lycopodium’s partnership. “The Monadelphous ILC represents a major partnership between the University and industry practitioners in the development of our student engineering professionals. Lycopodium is an extremely valued partner, enthusiastically supporting our vision, and will be an outstanding example to students of professional engineering practice.”

Mr De Leo said investing in the educational training of future engineers is essential in our business decisions and important for the industry and our community. “We see the introduction of the Integrated Learning Centre as being an excellent initiative, one which can only increase the practical experience each undergraduate student will gain.
“We are excited to be working with UWA on its quest to turn out graduates who have a sound understanding of industry expectations, equipped to meet the needs of the engineering industry.

“As an organisation, Lycopodium strives to deliver excellent engineering and project delivery solutions as a cornerstone to our objective to be recognised as industry leaders by our clients, staff and peers. To make this a reality, we are totally reliant on our staff and any initiative which has the potential to provide these benefits and strengthen ties with industry at the same time is one which we are delighted to support.”

Lycopodium is an engineering consulting business whose aim is to be the best in its field. Lycopodium, through its subsidiaries, services both the process and manufacturing industries. Many of Lycopodium’s clients are household names including major listed national and international companies.

Currently Lycopodium is working closely with Faculty staff to develop industry projects suitable for a design studio environment.
