The Class of 1956 UWA Engineering Graduates held a very successful week long Reunion in November 2007, centred around the Sunday Convocation Luncheon for Graduates of fifty years standing.

The Engineering Reunion activities included a fish and chip lunch at Fremantle, a tour of some of the University facilities, afternoon tea at the Engineering Faculty, a dinner at The University Club and a coach tour to Mandurah with lunch and a ferry cruise of the canals and marina development. Out of the original group of thirty eight who graduated in 1957, twenty one Graduates, many of whom had not seen each other for fifty years, and partners participated in the Reunion. Several former lecturers and partners also attended the dinner at The University Club.

Two Graduates travelled from Canada and United States of America for the Reunion along with several from the Eastern States. Many of the Graduates who came from the Eastern States and overseas commented that they had participated in the Reunion because of the additional events arranged before and after the Convocation Lunch and that early advice on the function dates had facilitated travel arrangements.

As part of the Reunion an Engineering Booklet was produced which provided a snapshot of engineering and Western Australia in the 1950s compared with the present time. Précis of the biographies submitted by the Class of 1956 Engineering Graduates outlined the contribution made by the Graduates over the fifty years.

Most of the Graduates have now exchanged contact details so that they can stay in touch.
