Engineers from the 1956 final year who graduated in early 1957 are already planning an extended 50 year reunion in November 2007. As well as the customary all graduates function and the engineering graduates function, this group is organising additional celebrations. It is hoped these activities will attract graduates who now live in the Eastern States or overseas.

A mailing to this class in April 2006 (with a survey attached) resulted in over 80% support for the extended programme. With wives/partners included, this indicates attendances of about 35 at the most popular additional functions.

Apart from 6 graduates known to be deceased, there are 2 from this year who are untraceable, and who did not receive the first mailing. An organising committee comprising Michael Corboy as Chairman, Barry Gibson, Lee Meng Kim and Barry Sanders have already had their first three meetings. Once the relevant dates on the University calendar for 2007 are known, the reunion key dates can be fixed. A detailed progress report to graduates advising of functions/venues/dates plus additional options for those interested, will then be mailed, prospectively in 2007.
