Engineers Australia has named 2007 the Year of Women in Engineering. They are planning a range of activities to educate people about engineering, the role of women in engineering and to showcase the successes and achievements of female engineers.
Activities will be held across Australia in 2007 and UWA will be contributing with a UWA engineering graduate, Sue Murphy, (Water Corporation) speaking at International Women’s Day on the 8th March 2007. UWA also plans to host a cocktail evening for its female engineering alumni and to include profiles on female engineering graduates in alumni publications.
In addition UWA will continue to host Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) days on campus to attract prospective female students to engineering.
