As the Dean mentioned in his opening comments in the first edition of Science Matters, the Faculty is now offering some of its programs offshore in Singapore via its academic provider, PSB Academy. The first intake to the offshore programs occurred in September 2004. There are two intakes per year, one in March and one in September and there are now over 200 students studying in the four programs (BSc (Biomedical Science), BSc (Genetics), BSc (Molecular Biology & Biotechnology) and BSc (Pharmaceutical Science)) currently offered at the PSB campus. The Faculty intends to expand the offerings at PSB Academy with two new programs in the pipeline, hopefully commencing in September 2006. The Faculty was delighted recently to be able to announce at the Prize-Giving Ceremony the award for the UWA Graduates' Prize for the best student in Level 1 Physics, Geology or Chemistry to Mr Chung Yim Yap for his achievement in Level 1 Chemistry units in 2005.
