Mentoring: Connect, Share, Encourage

“There are high spots in all of our lives and most of them have come about through encouragement from someone else.” (George Matthew Adams)
Take a moment to recall someone whose words of wisdom, inspiration or support have made all the difference to your career.

UWA's Career Mentor Link is a career mentoring program that matches professionals (mentors) with UWA students (mentees). It provides a fantastic opportunity for mentees to gain "real-world" insights & for mentors to share their wisdom, help another & enhance their professional development in areas such as leadership & communication.

Career Mentor Link is not a work experience program, but a career mentoring program. The focus is on helping a student with their career direction and job seeking skills rather than on-the-job training. The role of the mentor is to support, guide and encourage the mentee in developing the skills and focus to make a successful transition from university to the workplace.

In 2006, 12 of the 105 students involved in the program were from the Faculty of Life and Physical Sciences and their mentors came from a variety of organisations in the private and public sectors.

If you would like to be an inspiration to a UWA student then you can get further information and register online at www.careermentorlink.uwa.edu.au . Alternatively, you can contact Jo Hocking the Career Mentor Link Coordinator on 6488 3799 or by email [email protected]

Career Mentor Link is available to industry professionals, residing in WA, with a minimum 4 years in the workforce.
