UWA Waterpolo 18&U Boys have defeated local rivals Melville Sharks in the Australian Youth Water Polo Championships bronze play-off match.
The two teams were familiar with each other, with each experiencing mixed results in the group stages.
UWA started the tournament with a strong 14-3 win over River City, while also going down 7-8 to eventual champions UTS Balmain Tigers.
After going down again to UTS in the semi-final, UWA was vindicated with a strong 2-11 victory over their state rivals to win bronze.
The 16&U Championship will be the next prize UWA teams will by aiming for as the Australian Youth Championships continue in Brisbane.
