The UWA Sport club bursary program provides the foundations to build a comprehensive support for emerging UWA student coaches, officials, administrator or leaders within an affiliate UWA Sport club.

Awarded to a promising male and female UWA student member of an affiliate UWA sporting club, the bursary amounts are to assist individuals with their own personal and professional development costs associated with their club roles over the next 12 months.

UWA Sport has awarded the 2019 club bursaries, with Alex Milligan (male) and Katherine Sparrow (female) named as recipients.

Alex Milligan is club captain and UWA Sports Council delegate for UWA West Coast Swimming Club.

The student athlete was awarded the bursary in recognition of his passion for the sport, which has seen Alex go above and beyond in his role of club captain.

His club leadership has seen him engage with the community and run an all-star skills clinic connecting senior and junior club members.

Katherine Sparrow is a club administrator for the UWA Athletics Club, as well as UWA Sport Council Secretary.

Katherine is a key organiser for many club fundraising events and programs, and has taken leadership on marketing duties for club promotion, including social media and the club website.

As well as being a student athlete, Katherine plans to move into coaching, another way of her providing service to fellow club members.
