A new look Aon Uni 7s season has been confirmed for 2019, with the first games of the four round season kicking off in September.

Now in its third season, the Aon Uni 7s Series continues to provide a national pathway for elite Women’s 7s talent, with the competition a proven pathway for players including Page McGregor, Lily Dick, and, Samantha Treherne.

Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Adelaide, and Canberra will host the four rounds, as UTS and The University of Western Australia join the competition as the two newest teams.

Rugby Australia's Sevens high performance manager Scott Bowen said he expected a host of nationally contracted players to feature in the competition this season.

“We’re looking forward to this season being the best yet for the Aon Uni 7s Series," he said.

“The adjustment of the global season means that the Aussie 7s players will play in rounds across the Series and we know that this will only serve to lift the already high standard of the competition.”

UWA Sport General Manager Ian Fitzpatrick said he felt UWA’s inclusion could help grow the sport in Western Australia.

"UWA is excited to represent itself and the wider WA Rugby community through its support of a dynamic and talented team in the 2019 and 2020 competitions."

"The unique structure of the competition, its value to the student-athlete cohort at UWA and impact we believe it can have for rugby on campus are all keys drivers in our being involved.

"Competitions like the Aon University Sevens Series are important in recognising and highlighting the value that Universities and University Sport Australia bring to the wider sporting structure in Australia.”

The Aon Uni 7s season kicks off on September 14 at University of Queensland.
