The streets of Bunbury became a hub of pole vault in early March, with several UWA athletes bringing the entertainment.

The inaugural Bunbury Street Pole Vault meet delivered a unique perspective to the sport as spectators lined Victoria Street in the heart of Bunbury’s CBD to witness some of Australia’s elite pole vaulters in action.

Commonwealth Games medallist Nina Kennedy produced the top performance on the day, hitting a new personal best of 3.95, two centimetres better than her previous best.

Other UWA athletes included the up-and-coming Lauren Hyde-Cooling, and training trio Angus Armstrong, Declan Carruthers and Stephen Clough.

The athletes next turn their attention to the 2019 Perth Track Classic this weekend, which is sure to deliver up some stellar performances.
