Western Force have promoted two Future Force academy members to their Global Rapid Rugby Squad for next season, including UWA Rugby Club's Carlo Tizzano.

Tizzano, from the UWA club, is currently on tour with Australian Schools in Scotland and Ireland. He won the 2018 P.G. Hampshire Award for RugbyWA’s best and fairest player premier grade player.

The Force will play teams from Japan, Fiji, Samoa, Hawaii, Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia, understood to be backed by South Africa’s Falcons from the Currie Cup first division.

Tizzano said it was a huge honour to be signed by the team he grew up watching after first representing WA at under-14 level.

“I’ve dreamt of playing for the Force since I started playing rugby, representing them at an elite level,” he said.

“I was actually more AFL than rugby growing up but AFL was getting to the point where I was getting frustrated.

“Everyone kept running away from the contact so I decided rugby was the right option for me and I don't regret a thing.

“I'm looking forward to learning. It is best to be an open book and learn from the lads that have been there and done it before me.”

Tizzano was selected alongside fellow Future Force recruit Ben Grant.
