Three UWA Student athletes travelled to Cherbourg, France from 30th August to 5th September to compete in the 2018 World University Sailing Championship. The biannual competition is held by the International University Sports Federation (FISU), and presents the opportunity for student athletes to compete on an international level.

UWA Students George Boulden , Hayden Hunt , and skipper Ethan Preito-Low competed alongside Curtin University student Andrew Briggs.

The team came in 6th overall out of a field of 19, and experienced a number of highlights, including wins in 2 races, and multiple top three placings.

Speaking on the event, Ethan said that competing in the 2018 World University Sailing Championship was an enjoyable experience, allowing him to form new friendships and gain valuable experience competing in a high-calibre competition.

Ethan will next be competing in the Grade 2 Musto International Youth Regatta at the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia in Sydney from the 26th to 30th of November.
