Perth Festival brings magic in 2019. It’s going to be another stellar year for the Festival and here’s a taste of what’s to come in three internationally acclaimed works that are on sale now ,including the much anticipated Festival opening .

Mozart’s The Magic Flute

Mozart’s master comedy opera is richly reimagined in a boundary-busting production created by internationally-renowned opera director Barrie Kosky and British theatre group 1927. Blending animated film and live action in a gloriously ingenious kaleidoscope of 1920s silent movies, Weimar cabaret, dark humour and German expressionism, this visual fantasia is made for film buffs and art lovers, as well as fans of fine opera.

Presented in association with West Australian Opera and West Australian Symphony Orchestra.

Lang Toi

Bamboo poles sway as contortionists, acrobats and jugglers expertly balance and leap from them. A village goes about its daily life as live music, performed by virtuosi musicians, accompanies the action. This is circus at its absolute best!

Nouveau Cirque du Vietnam promises to be the hottest ticket in town when they return to the Regal Theatre. Merging tradition and innovation, Lang Toi uses poetic imagery, folk music and incredible acrobatic skill to create a spellbinding event for the whole family.

The Great Tamer

The meaning of life and the mystery of death are vividly explored in a set of breathtakingly inventive live paintings from Dimitris Papaioannou, a Greek artist internationally recognised for directing the 2004 Olympic ceremonies.

The Great Tamer is a witty, stunning and surreal feast of visual delights that takes shape around the idea that life is a journey of discovery — an exploration for hidden treasure, an inner archaeological excavation for meaning.
