Held every two years, the Sport and Recreation Industry Awardsrecognise innovation and exceptional achievement across all areas of sport and recreation in Western Australia.

UWA Sport General Manager, Ian Fitzpatrick, said “We are delighted to announce that UWA Sport have been selected as a finalist for two categories in the 2018 Sport and Recreation Industry Awards; the Organisation Excellence Award and Leadership Award.”

The Organisational Excellence award provides recognition for the most effective and sustainable management practices by a sport and/or recreation organisation over the past two years.

It recognises the achievement of outstanding results through commitment and dedication to the organisations goals and priorities and demonstrated professionalism, integrity and strong ethics while adhering to sound management practices.

The Leadership award recognises sport and recreation organisations that have made significant progress toward and/or have improved opportunities and achieved outcomes that encourage leadership opportunities in the sport and recreation industry over the past two years.

“Our nominations focus on the implementation of the new governance model for sport at the University of Western Australia, the development and delivery of the 2017-19 Strategic Plan, UWA Sport’s overall performance and the sporting opportunities created for UWA students and the broader UWA community,” Ian Fitzpatrick says.

The winners will be announced on Wednesday 8 August at Optus Stadium.
