The University of Western Australia has climbed two places in the 2019 QS World University Rankings, rising to 91. The University has improved seven places over the past three years.
The QS World University Rankings grade the world’s top universities based on performance indicators, including academic and employer reputation, research impact and international representation. UWA improved in four out of six of these indicators.
Overall, 1,233 universities were considered and 1,011 were ranked including 37 universities from Australia.
The University maintained its perfect score of 100 in the ‘International Faculty’ ratio, which measures International faculty staff per 100 faculty members. UWA also excelled in research: the ‘Citations Per Faculty’ indicator, which comprises 20 per cent of the final score, increased by 18 places to 40th in the world.
UWA’s Vice-Chancellor Professor Dawn Freshwater said the result demonstrated the University’s strong commitment to improvement in teaching and research.
“We’ve been concentrating on attracting the best and brightest academic staff from around the world through our ‘Be Inspired’ campaign,” Professor Freshwater said.
“This latest rankings result reinforces UWA’s strategy of steady improvement through continued academic strength, which results in both excellent teachers and world-class research outcomes.”
