Water Polo Australia announced the Australian Men’s Born 2001 squad this Tuesday (15 May).

The 15-man squad will compete at the Pan Pacific Youth Water Polo Festival in Auckland, New Zealand from 7-11 July.

Seven of the players in the squad are members of the UWA City Beach Water Polo Club, selected following performances at the 18U National Aged Championships in Canberra during early April.

Lachlan Emanuel, Byron Kelly, Ben Marshal, Reilly Maurich, Matt Murphy, Sam Rowbottom, and Oliver Sheldrick have all earnt Australian representation in a team heavily supported by Western Australian athletes.

The UWA City Beach Bears Boys downed the ACU Cronulla Sharks Boys 9-3 in the National Aged Championships finals, with Matt Murphy contributing 3 goals.

Before their tour of New Zealand, the 15-man squad will attend an intensive training camp at the Australian Institute of Sport from 29 June to 5 July.
