The Conservatorium of Music is offering a special two for one ticket price for UWA staff for the upcoming madrigal comedy performance of Festino by Adriano Banchieri*.

Celebrate Banchieri’s 450th anniversary in a unique concert experience featuring the Conservatorium’s newest voice ensemble – Concordia Vocalis.

Enjoy rousing brass music by Gabrieli, and wonderful solo and ensemble pieces for guitars and percussion before immersing in the traditions of 400 years ago in Festino (Festival for the Evening of Carnival Thursday before Supper).

Added to the festivities, are spoken introductions of the madrigals by Italian Studies students, commentary by Andrew Foote, and a sprinkling of instrumental music from the period, followed by ’supper' on the lawns.

When : Saturday 24 March @ 3pm
Venue : New Fortune Theatre, UWA
Discount for staff : 2-for-1 tickets now available by using the code FEAST when purchasing online.

*Banchieri was a composer, Benedictine monk, music theorist and – by the sounds of his music – someone who enjoyed a good laugh. Festino consists of 20 short madrigals of three to five vocal parts intended to not be “performed”, but sung and played by friends and often during a meal.
