2017 In The Zone Conference – The Blue Zone will bring together more than 30 national and international speakers across business, government and academic sectors to discuss major global challenges affecting our oceans.

With 90 per cent of global trade transported through maritime shipping routes and the potential of the sea floor to house substantial reservoirs of oil and gas, as well as fish and agriculture reserves capable of feeding millions of people, the maritime environment holds great opportunities and challenges for global leaders and policy makers.

This will be the key theme of the 2017 In the Zone Conference – The Blue Zone , a collaboration between The University of Western Australia and the Perth USAsia Centre.

Join the Chief Executive Officer of the Perth USAsia Centre, Professor Gordon Flake, for 2017 In The Zone Conference – The Blue Zone to be held at Beaumonde on The Point in Perth on Monday 2 October 2017.

Speakers include The Hon. Mark McGowan, Premier of Western Australia, The Hon. Julie Bishop, Australia’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr Michael Ottaviano CEO/Managing Director Carnegie Clean Energy, Dr Paul Hardisty, CEO, the Australian Institute of Marine Science and Margie Mason, Pulitzer prize winning journalist.
