Australia’s junior water polo World Championship team has finished in 11th place after defeating China 14-3 in their final classification match of the tournament in Serbia.
UWA Torpedos squad members Tim Putt , Christian Kyriakou , and Lachie Vos were among five Western Australian athletes in the Australian squad.
The Aussies established an 8-1 lead to half-time and went on to secure a final victory in the tournament, courtesy of doubles from Nicholas Elphick and Lachie Vos .
Tim Putt had previously played in the Aussie Sharks Men’s team that made it to the FINA 2017 quarter-finals, only to be denied by Olympic Champions Serbia 15-5. As the competition finished, the senior team landed ranked 7th.
