Good morning. Semester 2 classes have begun for the majority of our students and campus certainly feels busy and bustling.
This is an especially exciting time for new students and we wish them well as they commence their studies and look forward to being part of their UWA experience. We also celebrate with Graduations this week; this is a special acknowledgement for students after many years of hard work and commitment and I congratulate all
who are involved in ceremonies this week.
This afternoon we welcome the Federal Education and Training Minister Simon Birmingham to campus to officially open the Indian Ocean Marine Research Centre. The $62 million six-storey facility brings together more than 300 marine scientists across a variety of disciplines and provides a collaborative environment that will help advance our world-class marine research.
