Since opening on the 1 August last year, the refurbished Reid Library Ground Floor has quickly become a favourite space on campus for students to meet, collaborate and learn. The new space has also been attracting a great deal of attention off campus and recently received national and international recognition due to its innovative approach to library space design.

The new and innovative learning spaces in the Reid Library were recently selected and showcased in the NMC Horizon Report: 2017 Library Edition . The NMC Horizon Reports have a global readership and are renowned for showcasing cutting-edge projects and identifying emerging technology trends. The refurbished Reid Library Ground Floor reconceptualises library spaces by taking the space once required to process and house print collections and repurposing them as innovative and future-focused informal and collaborative learning spaces, enriched with technology, to support learning and a world-class student experience.

The Reid Library refurbishment is also a nominee in the inaugural Australian Library Design Awards 2017. The results will be announced in Melbourne on 19 June 2017.
