The competition is fierce this year amongst UWA’s Inter-College sporting teams. UniHall is off to a flying start with our teams taking out first and second place titles in a variety of sports.

The season began with the cross-campus run where our runners won 2nd and 3rd place. It was fantastic to see a squad of more than 30 residents take part by either running, walking or cheering on the team.

Shortly after the cricket team braved the heat and took out first place during the weekend competition! Go UniHall!

The last two weekends saw our women teams come in 3rd for softball and 5th for hockey. UniHall Resident Club Sports Representative, Ian Brady, said the team suffered some tough loses and draws in hockey and only just missed the play offs. Ultimately though the girls played better as a team and really bonded.

The men’s hockey team played some quality matches against all the colleges with special mentions going to players Finn Edgar, Scott Roberts, Chris Massey and Jas Sekhon. The men reached the semi-finals where they defeated St Catherines convincingly to move to the final where they versed St Georges.

“The final was truly spectacular and thrilling with both teams displaying top performances; it was neck and neck in the score until St Georges scored a minute before the end of the game to give them the win. This saw the UniHall Men's Hockey team come Runner Up,” says Ian.

This is just the start for inter-college sports with tennis coming up this weekend.

Not everyone is into sports, which is ok! Instead UniHallers can spectate and form the cheer squad. Before each game pizza is served in the Upper Quad, UniHallers grab their green cheering banners and head over to the games together.
