Good morning. Sixty years ago UWA opened Western Australia’s first medical school and we have been educating tomorrow’s medical pioneers and leading medical advancements ever since. We are excited to build on this proud history of medical teaching and research excellence by investing in new facilities and technologies that meet the changing needs of our students and the communities we serve.

Yesterday, alongside PVC & Executive Dean (Health and Medical Sciences) Professor Wendy Erber, I announced a $7 million upgrade to the UWA Medical and Dental Library. Commemorating our 60 year milestone by investing in this state-of-the-art facility is a fitting tribute to our community, without whose generosity and support back in 1957 the School would not have been realised.

This week our students have also been given the opportunity to improve the health of the community by registering for organ donation through the StudentConnect portal.

Sincerely,

Prof. Dawn Freshwater
Vice-Chancellor
