Attend a UniSuper seminar to find out how the changes to superannuation from 1 July 2017 may affect your benefit.

The 2016 Federal Budget proposed the widest-ranging changes to superannuation seen in several years.  Many of these changes have now been legislated and are set to take effect during 2017/2018 financial year. This seminar outlines the changes and explains the potential impact they may have on your UniSuper account specifically with reference to:

  • The reduction in the contribution limits on both a before and after-tax basis
  • Ability to pay “catch-up” contributions in respect of unused concessional contributions from previous years
  • Introduction of a new cap on savings in the retirement phase
  • Changes to spouse account contribution rules
  • Introduction of low income super tax offset
  • Removal of tax exempt status of transition to retirement accounts

There are two seminars scheduled, both being held on campus as indicated below:

Date: Thursday 23 February, 12.30 – 1.30 pm
Venue: Gentilly lecture theatre, Geography building

Date: Thursday 18 May, 12.30 – 1.30 pm
Venue: Webb lecture theatre, Geography building
