A simplified Staff Appraisal process is being implemented for all Academic and Professional & General employees across the University in 2017 which will replace the current PDA process and has been designed to align with the annual University planning process.

Key features of the simplified process:

-all employees required to complete an appraisal during a scheduled 8-week period each year.

- simplified online staff appraisal system

Resources will be available in January to support all employees understand the changes, including dedicated webpages and training.

In 2017, we will run 2 appraisal periods, one in March for senior leaders and one for all employees in October to align with IPE.

Senior leaders will have the discretion to run the 2017 early March staff appraisal cycle for employees in their areas who aren’t senior leaders.

In instances where a senior leader requires additional support, they may be asked to participate in the October cycle in addition to the March cycle.

2017 is the only year where we will be running 2 appraisal periods. From 2018, the 8 week appraisal period will run from October – December, immediately following the annual integrated Planning Exercise process.

Please note: The current PDA system will be unavailable from 1 March 2017. Should employees require a copy of their current PDA (e.g. for a Sabbatical application), they should ensure that they retain a hard copy for their records. After 1 March 2017, PDA records will only be available through the lodgement of an IT helpdesk request.

Further information will be communicated between now and March. In addition, please refer to the HR Staff Appraisal webpage www.staffappraisal.hr.uwa.edu.au which will be regularly updated throughout the next 6 months.
