Australia’s universities launched a campaign yesterday to prevent sexual assault and harassment, in a ground-breaking initiative across the sector.  The campaign – Respect. Now. Always. – highlights the determination of Australia’s universities to ensure that our students and staff are safe from sexual assault and sexual harassment.

UWA will partner with other universities across Australia in the country’s first comprehensive national student survey on sexual assault and harassment. The survey is key to hearing what more needs to be done to prevent sexual assault and harassment and how to support students quickly and effectively. The University is working with the Student Guild to raise awareness of the campaign with students.

In a joint initiative between UWA and the Student Guild a screening of The Hunting Ground will be held on Tuesday 30 August at 12.45pm in the Ross Lecture Theatre G41 Physics Building. Universities around the country are screening this documentary as part of the campaign. A panel session will follow the UWA screening to allow further discussion of the issues.

The survey will open following the screening.
