Future students will be able to discover everything they need to know about The University of Western Australia at this year’s Open Day on Sunday 14 August, from 10am to 4pm.

The campus in Crawley will come alive with activity, giving visitors insider access of one of Australia’s most picturesque campuses.

Students, their parents and families are invited to meet University staff and students to find out more about the UWA’s unique, globally recognised courses and student experience.

A “Future Students Hub” will again be held on James Oval where students are invited to start their pursuit before heading out into study areas, labs and faculty displays.

Staff at the Hub will be able to answer questions and provide information on admission, scholarships, courses, majors, career options and student life.

Representatives from UWA Guild clubs, along with current students, will also be available to answer queries and talk about university life.

All members of the community are invited to enjoy the entertainment and activities throughout the day, including live music performances, face painting, petting zoos and specialty food trucks.

Those attending can learn more about UWA’s beautiful grounds and facilities by taking a guided tour of the University’s teaching facilities, climbing Winthrop tower, hearing secrets from the past, touring the sporting facilities and visiting the five residential colleges.

Students and families can also take the chance to enjoy a meal at the University Club Cafe and Bar, overlooking UWA’s historic University Arts precinct and Matilda Bay.

There will be sporting matches, free fitness consultations and the chance to meet West Coast Fever netballers Shae Bolton and Nat Medhurst.

Get a personalised cover of a special virtual UWA magazine and enjoy an Art Heist, Black Hole simulation and artwork displayed by never-been-seen work by Miriam Stannage.

Visitors can also get hands-on, with activities such as surgery simulators, drawing classes, a mock trial and daytime astronomy viewing.

Visit the website at www.openday.uwa.edu.au and create your own program to make sure you don’t miss a thing.

Future students can also register for YouPortal, a new online platform that gives access to personalised information about UWA courses, pathways and career options. Go to www.you.uwa.edu.au
