UWA Science Global is a new website designed to help prospective students and researchers explore the high quality research carried out by the Faculty of Science at The University of Western Australia.

Professor Tony O'Donnell, Dean of UWA's Faculty of Science said that with its international standing and partnerships, the Faculty was leading the global scientific community with some of the most exciting world-class research collaborations and projects around.

"Science is a key focus at UWA.  From astronomy to zoology, our scientific research spans the world of science and often sets the global benchmarks with our work in 30 fields rated ‘at or above world standard'," Professor O'Donnell said.

"The website gives an insight on how our research is expanding the boundaries of knowledge and changing lives for the better all over the world."

The website focuses on science that makes a difference in five key areas:

  • Feeding the world
  • Preventing, diagnosing and treating disease
  • Furthering human knowledge and enhancing society
  • Harnessing resources and energy for a sustainable future
  • Restoring and maintaining balance in our natural environment.

85 research projects are currently featured on the website and staff members are continually contributing with new projects.

" UWA Science Global " not only celebrates the outstanding achievements of the Faculty of Science but also the excellence of UWA and Perth as a study destination.

The creators hope people will be inspired by the video which illustrates what the website is all about:  a journey of discovery.
