The wheel was such an ingenious invention that, for centuries, we have been exhorted not to reinvent it.

But performer Jens Altheimer has done just that and his creation has been hailed a "pure junkyard genius" ( Sydney Morning Herald ).

Jens brings his one-man show, Squaring the Wheel , to UWA's Dolphin Theatre next month for three shows during the school holidays.

Crazy contraptions, clever clowning, eccentric circus and puppetry are all part of the one-hour show, aimed at children (aged five and over) but great fun for all ages.

Squaring the Wheel is about finding your place in the world and, along the way, Jens shows how simple tasks can be made much more enjoyable by making them really complicated!

It's funny and it's clever and some adults have called it inspirational. The show won the Adelaide Fringe Award last year for the best presentation for children. It has some spoken words, but it perfect for people who are hearing-impaired or have a non-English-speaking background, as it doesn't rely on language.

This short season is part of a national tour of Squaring the Wheel by Regional Arts Victoria.

Come and experience it on Friday 4 July at 2pm and 7pm and Saturday 5 July at 2pm. Book your tickets here . And watch part of the show here .
