A 17 year-old Victoria Park girl in her first year at The University of Western Australia has been recognised as the State's top-performing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student in the WA Certificate of Education (WACE).

Louise Wilson, whose father is a Wongai man from Kalgoorlie, is now enjoying studying urban planning at UWA, a subject she first became interested in when in Year 12 at Como Secondary College studying geography.

"I hope to do a second major in environmental science and hopefully have a career in sustainable planning for the future," she said.

Louise, who plays netball socially at UWA, said she appreciates the support she has received from the University's School of Indigenous Studies.
