The University of Western Australia takes pride in the outstanding quality of its teaching staff at the Albany Centre. This was affirmed when Associate Professor Valerie Faulkner, Primary Program Course Coordinator for the UWA's Faculty of Education and coordinator for the Master of Teaching program at the Albany Centre, was awarded an Excellence in Teaching and Learning award for her outstanding contribution to student learning.
Assoc/Prof Faulkner is passionate about providing teaching and learning that influences, motivates and inspire students to learn.
"Having spent my childhood and early part of my teaching career in regional Western Australia, I could see how important it is to a local community to have access to a pool of teachers who have a commitment for their local area," said Assoc/Prof Faulkner.
The Faculty of Education's Master of Teaching course provides the perfect opportunity for Assoc/Prof Faulkner to share her expertise with pre-service teachers who are equally enthusiastic and committed to providing Great Southern schools with local teachers.
UWA Albany Centre Director Jennifer O'Neil said it was important to recognise staff who have demonstrated a broad and deep contribution to enhancing the quality of learning and teaching on the Albany Campus.
"We're fortunate in Albany to have many dedicated staff who are not only passionate about the subjects they teach, but are committed to providing our students with an excellent learning environment that is personal, accessible and rewarding," she said.
