Geraldton played host to the Taekwon-do Mid-West Regional Championships held on Saturday 23 March, which saw 95 competitors including two UWA students who won a total of five gold medals and one silver in a display of discipline, skills and sportsmanship.

2 nd year Commerce student Tarquin Betuel, who has a red belt in Taekwon-do, won gold in the sparring, patterns and team sparring events and silver in power breaking. His team mate, Lukas Kuster is a 1 st degree black belt and is in his 4 th year of Medicine, brought home gold in the individual and team sparring disciplines.

Training as members of the UWA Taekwon-do Club involves a minimum commitment of four hours per week at the UWA International Martial Arts Centre at the Claremont Campus, with students competing throughout the year including at the State and National Championships and the Australian University Games.
