Following an extensive international search and selection process, the Faculty of Architecture, Landscape and Visual Arts has offered a new ongoing appointment in Architecture to Associate Professor Fernando Jerez.

Fernando Jerez is a Spanish architect and educator who has lived in Spain, the UK and the US. Prior to his appointment he lectured in Architectural Design at Superior Technological School of Architecture of Madrid (ETSAM) and Technical University of Madrid (UPM). His qualifications include: a Bachelors and Masters degree in Architecture from ETSAM, a Graduate Diploma in Architecture from the Bartlett School of Architecture (UCL) London, a Master of Fine Arts from New York University and a PhD in Design and History of Architecture from ETSAM.

After working in offices in Spain and London, Fernando began his own practice SMAR where he has received more than 20 awards in design competitions.

He has also been a visiting critic at the Bartlett School for the last three years, at the Architectural Association London and the Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation (GSAPP) at Columbia University in New York City.
