The UWA Business School's Winthrop Professor Ann Tarca has been appointed to the Australian Accounting Standards Board (AASB) for an initial three year term, commencing in January 2014.

The AASB is an independent accounting standard-setter based in Melbourne. Its role is to develop, in the public interest, a single set of high quality, understandable accounting standards that require transparent and comparable information in general purpose financial statements.

Winthrop Professor Tarca is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia. She has more than 15 years' experience teaching and researching in the area of international accounting and financial reporting, including the application and development of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) which form an integral part of Australian accounting standards.
