UWA's Winthrop Singers will bring the spirit of Christmas to Perth on Monday 23 December via your television screen.
To cap off their busy Centenary year, the Winthrop's performance with the choir of John Septimus Roe Anglican Community School in Winthrop Hall will be televised by WTV over Christmas.
They will sing St Nicolas by Benjamin Britten who, like UWA, was born in 1913.
Another composer for whom 2013 is a landmark is Giuseppe Verdi, who was born in 1813. The Winthrops will be making their first appearance with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra in Verdi's Requiem , later this month.
The choir featured prominently in the soundtrack for Luminousnight in music they recorded for the Centenary CD by Emeritus Professor David Tunley. They also issued their own third CD, Hesperia, representing choral music written in WA or associated with the University.
Committed as the choir is to supporting new music for the medium, the Winthrops gave first performances this year at their regular Thursday Evensong, of Francis Cardell's Song for Simeon and Tamara Simpson's Ave Maria , as well as the Australian premier of Nicholas Bannan's Wedding Songs at a concert in St George's College Hall.
Plans for 2014 include the premier of Philip Gearing's Pro Patria Mori, a commemoration of the role of ANZAC serviceman in World War 1, in St George's College Hall on Thursday 24 April.
In the meantime, catch the Winthrop Singers on Channel 44 at 9.30pm on the night before Christmas Eve or hear them here .
