A partnership between the Perth International Arts Festival and power-provider Synergy has been recognised for its success in raising sustainability awareness, reducing the Festival's impact on the environment and creating activities that are both accessible and educational.

The Festival and Synergy, which struck a partnership in 2010 as part of a new sustainability policy, won the Visy Environmental Sustainability Award at the 2013 Creative Partnerships Awards (WA), announced this week.

The awards, previously the Australia Business Arts Foundation (AbaF) Awards, celebrate and honour successful and innovative relationships between arts, business and donors.  The WA winners were announced at Government House ballroom on Wednesday night.

Other WA partnerships to be honoured included Martumili Artists and Kanyirninpa Jukurrpa and Fremantle Arts Centre and BHP Billiton Iron Ore;  AWESOME Arts Australia and LWP Property Group;  Black Swan State Theatre Company and Rio Tinto and Water Corporation;  West Australian Ballet and Wesfarmers;  Yirra Yaakin Theatre Company and Terry Grose;  and Diabetes WA and the Desert Feet team.

The Perth Festival and Synergy also were recognised for demonstrating good practice.

Winners at each state event will go on to be national finalists for the 2013 Creative Partnerships Australia Awards.  The national winners will be announced at an awards dinner to be held in Canberra on November 18.
