Hours before sending out their 2012 Thank You booklet, UWA's Office of Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) discovered the publication had won a bronze award in an international competition.

The design competition was organised by the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), an international association of educational institutions.

Anne Webster, Associate Director of Development Services , said the award recognised the many people involved in the booklet including staff from DAR as well as Public Affairs and UniPrint.

In particular, Anne acknowledged Rebecca Taylor, senior graphic designer at Uniprint, Matthew Galligan's great photography and the writing skills of Lindy Brophy, editor of UWAnews.

The booklet won bronze in the category of Design: Multi-Page Publications/Folders .  The only other Australian universities to win awards in the Design category were University of Sydney, University of Melbourne and ACU [Australian Catholic University].  None were in the same category.  Here is more information:

Brenda Tournier, Associate Director DAR, said the win reflected a great campus and community collaborative effort.

"Uniprint, in particular, should be very proud, as are we in DAR.  We have heard that many of the donors who received the Thank You book last year loved it so much that they still have it today.  The photography is beautiful, and the personal stories pay tribute to all those alumni and friends who believe in UWA and make a financial  commitment to the future of this institution."
