The UWA Albany Centre held a ceremony to acknowledge the achievements of its students at the Albany Golf Club earlier this week. This was an opportunity to congratulate students who had completed courses and award prizes to those who had attained excellent academic results.

Attended by over 100 students and invited guests, the celebration was also a time to reflect on a successful year at the campus as well as farewell students transferring to the University of Western Australia in Perth.

The UWA Albany Centre is grateful to the local businesses and individuals who support students through the provision of prizes.

The City of Albany provided a prize for the highest achieving student completing their course at the Albany Centre. Alison Carpenter was surprised and delighted to be the recipient of this prize.

"The City of Albany is pleased to be sponsoring a prize that rewards the outstanding achievement of an Albany student," said Mayor Dennis Wellington, who was on hand to present the prize.

"It makes a difference to a student when their success is recognised," said Director Jennifer O'Neil. "The ceremony provides a wonderful opportunity to reward academic excellence and to acknowledge those who have made an exceptional contribution to university life or to the region".
