The University Archives was recently approached to provide material for another Centenary event, this one celebrating the establishment of the nation’s capital, Canberra.

The exhibition entitled “Glorious Days: Australia 1913” will feature vehicles, clothing, stunning Indigenous art and objects from that period. It will also, of course, celebrate the establishment of Australia’s first free University, UWA.

Several items from the University collection have been carefully packed and transported to the National Museum where they will be on display for 12 months. Included in the exhibition material are UWA’s 1914 syllabus and details of UWA’s very first students. So, if you are in Canberra next year and find yourself feeling a litile nostalgic and homesick you know where to go!
