A new multi-million-dollar investment by Chevron Australia to significantly boost gas processing research at The University of Western Australia will be announced on Friday December 9.

The funding is part of a Chevron University Partnership program, which includes Stanford University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Texas A&M University.

The announcement builds substantially on $2.2 million already invested by Chevron Australia at UWA since 2008 and aims to strengthen Perth's international reputation as a world energy hub.

An official signing ceremony will be attended by Chevron Australia's General Manager for the Greater Gorgon Area and Chevron Australia University Partnership Programme Executive Sponsor, Mr Colin Beckett; the Vice-Chancellor of The University of Western Australia, Professor Alan Robson; and the Director of UWA's Energy and Mineral's Institute , Mr Tim Shanahan.
