Samantha Shepherd, 3rd year Environmental Engineering student was one of the 11 Indigenous men and women selected as part of Rob de Castella’s 2011 Indigenous Marathon Project to complete the New York Marathon with 47,000 other competitors.

While all the Indigenous athletes completed the course, Sam finished in 4 hours 13 minutes. Prior to the race, Sam said her goal was to complete the race within four hours, without walking. The School of Indigenous Studies congratulates Sam!
