Talented School of Music instrumental and composition students win places on the Australian Youth Orchestra's National Music Camp.

School of Music instrumental students Joel Bass, Alex McCracken, Jasmin Parkinson-Stewart, Elena Phatak, Ingrid Purich and Thea Rossen have been accepted in to the Australian Youth Orchestra's (AYO) National Music Camp Instrumental Program to be held in Victoria in January 2012.  Talented composition student Jared Yapp was accepted in to the Composition Program at the camp.  Ingrid Purich was also successful in securing a position as an Arts Administrator to assist in the administration and organisation of the camp.

The first AYO National Music Camp was held in 1948 and has been held annually ever since.  The camp was the starting point for the Australian Youth Orchestra in 1957 and is an integral part of the AYO's annual program.  The camp is a two week intensive musical experience where students are immersed in concerts and tutoring with some of the finest musicians from Australia and overseas.  Many Australian musicians credit this experience with inspiring them deeply.

The School of Music is proud of these students and wishes them well as they indulge in this enriching musical event.
