UWA Arts student, Amy Steinepreis has won a prestigious national ‘Premio Italia’ Italian prize offered by the Embassy of Italy in the Literary Category section.

The 2011 'Premio Italia' prize is offered by the Embassy of Italy to encourage students to reflect upon the cultural aspects of the Italian Language, to foster their creative abilities, and to create a bridge between Italian and Australian cultures. This year's competition was divided into two main categories: 1) Literary Category Prize for the best essay written in Italian; 2) Art Category Prize for the best original art work. The first prize for each category was a return flight to Italy.

Amy’s award winning essay was on "Ugo Foscolo's 'Isepolcri' and Italo-Australian identity".
