The Climate Commission has released its report The Critical Decade, Western Australian Climate Change Impacts at The University of Western Australia.

The report is a snapshot of the changes in climate that can be expected in WA and south-west WA in particular.

Professor Will Steffen, Climate Commissioner and author of the report, states, "The report shows that Western Australia's economy, coastal infrastructure, biodiversity and agriculture and tourism industries are vulnerable to the impacts of a changing climate."

"The risks have never been clearer and the case for action has never been more urgent," said Professor Steffen. "We are more certain of the climate change risks for south-western WA than any other part of Australia. We think that it is important to quantify some of those risks for Western Australians."

The Climate Commission is an independent body which seeks to provide authoritative information on climate change science and solutions to the general public.  The Commission is led by former Australian of the Year Tim Flannery, and includes internationally renowned scientists and business leaders.
