Illustrator and author Shaun Tan, a graduate of The University of Western Australia, has followed his Oscars success with the world's biggest children's literature award, the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award .

The award worth $764,600 was announced in Stockholm.

Tan, who has illustrated more than 20 books, won an Oscar in February for his 15-minute film The Lost Thing.

Shaun Tan's next visit to The University of Western Australia will be in June when he will address a public audience as part of UWA Extension . Bookings open on 16 April.
