Early this year 43 budding architects from 25 secondary schools attended the recent Architecture, Landscape and Visual Arts School's Summer Studio.

Students from as far away as Albany and Broome were involved in designing a small music venue to be located adjacent to the Lawrence Wilson Art Gallery at UWA.

To inspire their designs, students visited other performance spaces on campus, attended lectures, sketched, and learnt how to draw using AutoCAD.  Armed with their new found designing expertise, they then designed their buildings, made a model of their design using the laser cutter, and mounted an exhibition.

The students also met with current architecture students to learn more about UWA's course and the industry, giving the students an understanding of being a university student, and insight into course selections at UWA.
