A spur of the moment decision to audition for ‘No Time for Timmy' landed UWA Albany student Owen Davies the lead role in the Spectrum Theatre production. Written and directed by Albany local Elaine Grant, this thought provoking work explores the challenges of dealing with mental illness.

"The role is a real test, moving through a range of extremes - from manic anxiety to rage to singing show tunes - all in a very short space of time," said Mr Davies.

Currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Arts at The University of Western Australia in Albany, Mr Davies believes his life experiences along with the insights gained through his study in units such as anthropology, psychology and English helped him connect with the character of Timmy.

"I'm passionate about a good liberal arts education. I always wanted to do an Arts degree but didn't take up the opportunity until after I had been working for a few years. The broad base of a university arts education provides a lot of scope to explore so many different careers," said Mr Davies.
